Biblical Finance - Christian Giving First of all, it is important to understand a couple of basic principles of the law: 1. A law stands on the books until it is amended or rescinded (repealed). This is true of all laws whether man's law or God's law. 2. When the king speaks, his words become law. This is true whether an earthly king or the heavenly king. The Word of God is therefore, law. The laws established by God in the Old Testament carry over into the New Testament unless they are amended or rescinded. This is called the Biblical carryover principle. Also realize that prior to the cross, we are still in the Old Testament covenant. Note that while the law was given to the Jew, the New Testament Christian is grafted in (Rom 11:17) as a spiritual Jew. This is why we study the Old Testament and support Israel. When the New Testament quotes an Old Testament passage, that is evidence that passage carries over. Jesus said he did not come to destroy the law, He came to fulfill it...

When we were married in 1961, my wife was in school planning to become a social worker. She quit to take a full-time job until I graduated. With a new degree in hand, and a good job with a Fortune 500 company, we set out to start a family, but there were no results. We did everything the doctors suggested, but still no results. In desperation, we applied for adoption with the Children's Home Society in 1969. After completing the application and qualification process, we expected to wait up to two years for a placement. "the pill" had reduced the number of unwanted pregnancies, and there was a shortage of adoptable babies. My wife explained to her boss that she intended to quit to become a homemaker when we received a baby. The wait was shorter than she expected. We wanted a child so badly, we made no restrictions as to sex, race, physical condition, whatever. Within two weeks we received a call from Children's Home that they had a newborn. This is my favorite story from the Traveling Ministry. I was heading North on I-57 through Illinois on my way to Indianapolis to visit my son and his family. I have a sign on the side of my rig with the name of the ministry, E-Mail address and my cel phone number. Suddenly, the phone rang. When I answered it, a woman's voice said "are you the guy pulling the trailer we just passed." I said "I guess so." She said "could you stop up ahead?" So I said "sure, why." Then she said "the Lord spoke to us and told us to give you some money." Thoughts raced through my head. Could this be some kind of highway pirate scam? I said "pull off at the next exit, I am getting off there anyway." It was time for lunch, and I thought it was safer than stopping along a freeway. As I rolled up the exit ramp, there was a little red sports car sitting there with two people and a kid. As I got out of my truck, a woman got out of the sports car, gav...

A number of ministries are currently talking about suffering, what with the tough economic times and so forth. 1. We live in a fallen world, and bad stuff happens. This is not God trying to teach us a lesson, although God can and does turn evil for good. 2. Satan is a liar and a deceiver. His tools are sickness, poverty and death. If you see these things in your life, it is not God correcting you. Sin has consequences, and God will not necessarily give you a free "get out of jail card." He WILL forgive your sin when you confess it and ask for forgiveness. 3. God does not correct us by trying to kill us or our family members. Hopefully, your earthly father did not do it that way either. 4. When God corrects us, He does it with the Word. Or more specifically with what the Word says. We have a covenant of peace with God, and He is not judging anyone at this time. There is a time reserved for judgement. 5. The non-believer will stand the Great White Throne Judgement . 6.
